Advancing real-time sea ice monitoring
in coastal Newfoundland and Labrador

Dr. Matthew Hamilton joins project lead Dr. Oscar De Silva and Dr. Rocky Taylor on a sea ice monitoring project awarded $238,048 through the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s John R. Evans Leaders Fund.

The project, Next-Generation Multispectral Sensing Station for Real-Time Sea Ice Monitoring in Coastal Newfoundland and Labrador, is one of six Memorial University projects featured in the Gazette’s October 1, 2026 story, “High-tech breakthroughs.”
